CPT Beemer’s next assignment was with the 1st Cavalry Division's Sustainment Brigade, stationed out of Fort Hood, TX. Sofia has a master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. CPT Beemer begun her family in July of 2016 by marrying her better half, Sofia Vacas, a native of Quito, Ecuador who grew up in Northern Virginia. She also completed a master’s degree in Aeronautics with a concentration in Space Studies from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2016. After her tenure with 63d CM CO she returned to Fort Leonard Wood, MO to attend CBRN Captain’s Career Course, graduating in June 2016. She was selected among her peers to serve as the Company's Executive Officer for eight months. She then transferred to the 63d Maneuver Support Chemical Company, 48th Chemical Brigade and served 25 months as a Decontamination Platoon Leader.

Following graduation, she was assigned to 2nd Brigade Combat team, 101st Airborne (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, KY where she worked as the Brigade Chemical Defense Officer until October 2012.

Soon thereafter, she reported to the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense School at Fort Leonard Wood, MO graduating in 2012. She commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army in July 2011 branching in the Chemical Corps.

She graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, minoring in Astronomy. CPT Heidi Beemer was raised in Virginia Beach, VA.
